Green tea - A source of powerful antioxidants

Green tea is a rich source of powerful antioxidants that protect our body from free radicals and oxidative stress.

Green tea supports the thyroid in its production of the hormone thyroxine, and can help rev up the metabolism for hours. Several studies suggest that taking green tea extract or EGCG supplements can make you burn more calories — even at rest. Some studies even showed an increase as high as 8% in calories burned. Of the weight loss examined in studies, a significant percentage of fat lost was harmful visceral fat.

While the results may be modest in terms of overall weight loss - every little bit adds up. Try substituting coffee or black tea for green tea. If you're worried about the bitter flavour of green tea, remember to brew it no hotter than 80 degrees Celsius - this keeps it from becoming bitter and still extracts the goodness from the tea

Green tea also promotes healthy gut bacteria and improves overall gut health and wellness.
